Bibliometric Analysis of Exercise and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is the leading cause of death in the world. Pulmonary rehabilitation includes, but is not limited to, exercise training and education, which aim to improve the physical and psychological conditions of patients with chronic respiratory diseases through self-management interventions.
The aim of this study was to perform a bibliometric analysis of studies on exercise and COPD published from 2000 to 2021 using VOSviewer and CiteSpace.
All included literature was obtained from the Web of Science core collection. VOSviewer was used to analyze country or region, institution, major co-cited journals, and keywords. CiteSpace was used to analyze centrality, author and co-cited authors, journals, the strongest citation bursts of references, and keywords.
A total of 1889 articles meeting the criteria were obtained. The United States has the largest number of publications. The American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine is the most influential in this field, and the most published research institution is Queen's University. Denis E. O'Donnell has made significant contributions to exercise and COPD research. Association, impact, and statement are hot spots of research in this field.

Artificial Intelligence in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease: Research Status, Trends, and Future Directions --A Bibliometric Analysis from 2009 to 2023.
A bibliometric analysis was conducted using VOSviewer and CiteSpace to examine studies published between 2009 and 2023 on the utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
On March 24, 2024, a computer search was conducted on the Web of Science (WOS) core collection dataset published between January 1, 2009, and December 30, 2023, to identify literature related to the application of artificial intelligence in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). VOSviewer was utilized for visual analysis of countries, institutions, authors, co-cited authors, and keywords. CiteSpace was employed to analyze the intermediary centrality of institutions, references, keyword outbreaks, and co-cited literature. Relevant descriptive analysis tables were created using Excel2021 software.
This study included a total of 646 papers from WOS. The number of papers remained small and stable from 2009 to 2017 but started increasing significantly annually since 2018. The United States had the highest number of publications among countries/regions while Silverman Edwin K and Harvard Medical School were the most prolific authors and institutions respectively. Lynch DA, Kirby M. and Vestbo J. were among the top three most cited authors overall. Scientific Reports had the largest number of publications while Radiology ranked as one of the top ten influential journals. The Genetic Epidemiology of COPD (COPDGene) Study Design was frequently cited. Through keyword clustering analysis, all keywords were categorized into four groups: epidemiological study of COPD; AI-assisted imaging diagnosis; AI-assisted diagnosis; and AI-assisted treatment and prognosis prediction in the COPD research field. Currently, hot research topics include explainable artificial intelligence framework, chest CT imaging, and lung radiomics.
At present, AI is predominantly employed in genetic biology, early diagnosis, risk staging, efficacy evaluation, and prediction modeling of COPD. This study's results offer novel insights and directions for future research endeavors related to COPD.

The quality of life of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: a bibliometric analysis.
The quality of life (QOL) of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is garnering increasing attention. However, faced with thousands of relevant clinical literature, it is becoming increasingly difficult for researchers and institutions to identify impactful research. Bibliometrics can help researchers quickly and methodically analyze the impact and hot trends of clinical research, strengthen teamwork, and solve related challenges. Therefore, we used bibliometrics to analyze and visualize data on the QOL of patients with COPD over the past 31 years to understand the key authors, research areas, and future trends.
We searched the Web of Science Core Collection for literature published since the establishment of the database. The main subject terms used were "chronic obstructive pulmonary disease", "quality of life" and their different combinations. Articles were selected and exported in plain text format along with citation information. Bibliometric analysis and data visualization were performed using the R package "bibliometrix" and by incorporating statistical indicators such as the number of publications, citations and outputs of core authors, author collaborations, major journals, major research countries and collaborations, and key research themes.
The bibliometric analysis included 9,219 articles. Document type is unlimited. All publications were published between 1992 and 2022, and the number of published articles increased consistently each year over the past decade, with periodic fluctuations. The European Respiratory Journal and the International Journal of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease emerged as the most frequently cited journals within this domain. Key authors contributing to this field include Wedzicha JA, Jones PW, Singh D, Holland AE, and Wouters EFM. The United States and the United Kingdom exhibited a high volume of publications, high citation rates, and relatively intense international collaboration in related areas, followed by China, Spain, Canada, and Australia in these metrics. Notably, prominent topics within this field included emphysema, pulmonary rehabilitation, dyspnea, acute exacerbation, living status, and mortality, among others. Future research in this field will focus on microorganisms, particulate matter, family rehabilitation, and Tai Chi.
This bibliometric analysis highlights the growing importance of QOL research in the field of COPD, which can inform clinicians, researchers, and policymakers to prioritize areas for future investigation in order to develop comprehensive, patient-centered strategies. At the same time, it is suggested that researchers should pay more attention to the core authors, strengthen international collaboration and team exchanges, actively explore characteristic clinical featured treatment measures such as Tai Chi and family rehabilitation, carry out clinical research on the integration of traditional Chinese and Western medicine and self-management, focus more on the QOL, mental health and economic and social burden of patients, and ultimately enhance the well-being of individuals with chronic respiratory diseases.

Global Trends in Research of Macrophages Associated With Acute Lung Injury Over Past 10 Years: A Bibliometric Analysis.
Acute lung injury (ALI) is an intractable disorder associated with macrophages. This bibliometric analysis was applied to identify the characteristics of global scientific output, the hotspots, and frontiers about macrophages in ALI over the past 10 years. We retrieved publications published from 2011 to 2020 and their recorded information from Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-expanded) of Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC). Bibliometrix package was used to analyze bibliometric indicators, and the VOSviewer was used to visualize the trend and hotspots of researches on macrophages in ALI. Altogether, 2,632 original articles were reviewed, and the results showed that the annual number of publications (Np) concerning the role of macrophages in ALI kept increasing over the past 10 years. China produced the most papers, the number of citations (Nc) and H-index of the USA ranked first. Shanghai Jiaotong University and INT IMMUNOPHARMACOL were the most prolific affiliation and journal, respectively. Papers published by Matute-Bello G in 2011 had the highest local citation score (LCS). Recently, the keywords "NLRP3" and "extracellular vesicles" appeared most frequently. Besides, researches on COVID-19-induced ALI related to macrophages seemed to be the hotspot recently. This bibliometric study revealed that publications related to macrophages in ALI tend to increase continuously. China was a big producer and the USA was an influential country in this field. Most studies were mainly centered on basic researches in the past decade, and pathways associated with the regulatory role of macrophages in inhibiting and attenuating ALI have become the focus of attention in more recent studies. What is more, our bibliometric analysis showed that macrophages play an important role in COVID-19-induced ALI and may be a target for the treatment of COVID-19.
