A bibliometric analysis: Current status and frontier trends of Schwann cells in neurosciences.

This review aims to present a comprehensive bibliometric analysis related to Schwann cells (SCs) in neurosciences from 2012 to 2021. We used the Web of Science core collection database to obtain publications on SCs in the field of neurosciences from 2012 to 2021. The obtained data were further visually analyzed by using CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and an online bibliometric platform. We retrieved a total of 1,923 publications related to SCs in neurosciences. The number of publications in this field fluctuates steadily each year, and the number of citations is increasing year by year. The United States is leading the field, with LERU and the University OF London as influential institutions, Jessen KR and Feltri ML as the most representative authors, and GLIA and JOURNAL OF NEUROSCIENCE as authoritative journals in the field. Meanwhile, we predict that a more in-depth study of autophagy and phagocytosis functions of SCs and the key regulator c-Jun will probably be a hot spot for future research. This study summarizes the current research results and predicts research trends for further research, which will facilitate researchers in quickly understanding the current state of research in the field while referring to new research directions.

Research Hotspots and Trends of Peripheral Nerve Injuries Based on Web of Science From 2017 to 2021: A Bibliometric Analysis.

Peripheral nerve injury (PNI) is very common in clinical practice, which often reduces the quality of life of patients and imposes a serious medical burden on society. However, to date, there have been no bibliometric analyses of the PNI field from 2017 to 2021. This study aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of the current state of research and frontier trends in the field of PNI research from a bibliometric perspective. Articles and reviews on PNI from 2017 to 2021 were extracted from the Web of Science database. An online bibliometric platform, CiteSpace, and VOSviewer software were used to generate viewable views and perform co-occurrence analysis, co-citation analysis, and burst analysis. The quantitative indicators such as the number of publications, citation frequency, h-index, and impact factor of journals were analyzed by using the functions of "Create Citation Report" and "Journal Citation Reports" in Web of Science Database and Excel software. A total of 4,993 papers was identified. The number of annual publications in the field remained high, with an average of more than 998 publications per year. The number of citations increased year by year, with a high number of 22,272 citations in 2021. The United States and China had significant influence in the field. Johns Hopkins University, USA had a leading position in this field. JESSEN KR and JOURNAL OF NEUROSCIENCE were the most influential authors and journals in the field, respectively. Meanwhile, we found that hot topics in the field of PNI focused on dorsal root ganglion (DRG) and satellite glial cells (SGCs) for neuropathic pain relief and on combining tissue engineering techniques and controlling the repair Schwann cell phenotype to promote nerve regeneration, which are not only the focus of research now but is also forecast to be of continued focus in the future. This is the first study to conduct a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of publications related to PNI from 2017 to 2021, whose bibliometric results can provide a reliable source for researchers to quickly understand key information in this field and identify potential research frontiers and hot directions.

Mapping knowledge landscapes and emerging trends of the biomarkers in melanoma: a bibliometric analysis from 2004 to 2022.

Melanoma is a skin tumor with a high mortality rate, and early diagnosis and effective treatment are the key to reduce its mortality rate. Therefore, more and more attention has been paid for biomarker identification for early diagnosis, prognosis prediction and prognosis evaluation of melanoma. However, there is still a lack of a report that comprehensively and objectively evaluates the research status of melanoma biomarkers. Therefore, this study aims to intuitively analyze the research status and trend of melanoma biomarkers through the methods of bibliometrics and knowledge graph. This study uses bibliometrics to analyze research in biomarkers in melanoma, summarize the field's history and current status of research, and predict future research directions. Articles and Reviews related to melanoma biomarkers were retrieved by using Web of Science core collection subject search. Bibliometric analysis was performed in Excel 365, CiteSpace, VOSviewer and Bibliometrix (R-Tool of R-Studio). A total of 5584 documents from 2004 to 2022 were included in the bibliometric analysis. The results show that the number of publications and the frequency of citations in this field are increasing year by year, and the frequency of citations has increased rapidly after 2018. The United States is the most productive and influential country in this field, with the largest number of publications and institutions with high citation frequency. Caroline Robert, F. Stephen Hodi, Suzanne L. Topalian and others are authoritative authors in this field, and The New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of Clinical Oncology and Clinical Cancer Research are the most authoritative journals in this field. Biomarkers related to the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of melanoma are hot topics and cutting-edge hotspots in this field. For the first time, this study used the bibliometric method to visualize the research in the field of melanoma biomarkers, revealing the trends and frontiers of melanoma biomarkers research, which provides a useful reference for scholars to find key research issues and partners.

Bibliometric analysis of global research trends on male osteoporosis: a neglected field deserves more attention.

We analyzed the knowledge structure, current status, and future directions of 3243 publications on male osteoporosis by employing bibliometric analysis. Our results indicated that Osteoporosis International was the most influential journal in this field. And the study of epidemiology and risk factors has been recognized as a hot research topic in recent years. This study also calls for more attention to be given on male osteoporosis research. Male osteoporosis is increasing as a serious health problem worldwide with the aging of population. However, a comprehensive understanding of the current status and future trends in this field is lacking to date. The goal of the present study was to summarize and visualize the knowledge framework, research hotspots, and emerging trends of male osteoporosis research based on the bibliometric method. Scientific publications regarding male osteoporosis from 1998 to 2020 were downloaded from the SCIE database. VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and online bibliometric website were used for this study. The main analyses include cooperative relationships between countries/institutions/authors, co-citation analysis of authors/journals, and co-occurrence analysis of keywords/subject categories, as well as analyses on keyword/reference bursts. A total of 3243 publications with 128,751 citations were identified. Despite experiencing a period of increase in the number of publications, incentives for conducting male osteoporosis research seem to have decreased during recent years. The USA has the most prominent contributions, as reflected by most publications and the highest H-index value. Oregon Health and Science University was the most prolific institution within this domain. The most influential academic journal was Osteoporosis International. Keywords were categorized into four clusters: basic research, epidemiology and risk factors, diagnostic studies, treatment and fracture prevention. Burst keyword detection suggested that the following research directions including "obesity," "zoledronic acid," "DXA," "inflammation," "fall," "microarchitecture," and "sarcopenia" remain research hotspots in the near future and deserve our further attention. This is the first bibliometric analysis that provides a comprehensive overview of male osteoporosis research, which may provide helpful references for investigators to further explore hot issues in this field.

Study on Pain Catastrophizing From 2010 to 2020: A Bibliometric Analysis via CiteSpace.

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the global scientific output of research on pain catastrophizing and explore the hotspots and frontiers from 2010 to 2020 using bibliometric methods. Methods: Publications regarding pain catastrophizing published from 2010 to 2020 were extracted from the Web of Science Core Collection. CiteSpace was used to analyze the number of publications, countries, institutions, journals, authors, cited references, and keywords using standard bibliometric indicators. Results: A total of 1,576 publications on pain catastrophizing were retrieved from 2010 to December 31, 2020. The number and rate of the annual publications gradually increased totally. Pain (130) was the most productive journal. Meanwhile, Pain ranked first in the frequency (1,432) and centrality (0.31) of the cited journals. The most productive country and institution in this frequency field were the United States (642) and the University of Washington (73), respectively. Jensen MP (34) was the most prolific author, and Sullivan MJL (1,196) ranked first among the cited authors. In the ranking of frequency in the cited references, the first article was a critical review about pain catastrophizing published by Quartana (100). The keyword "Low back pain" had the highest frequency (556). "Total hip" was identified as a frontier research item for 2016-2020. Conclusion: The findings of this bibliometric study provide the current status and trends in the clinical research of pain catastrophizing and may help researchers to identify hot topics and explore new research directions in this field.
