投稿须知/期刊简介:
Development is a journal that provides an insight into mechanisms of plant and animal development, covering all aspects from molecular and cellular to tissue levels. It aims to act as a forum for all research that offers a genuine insight into developmental mechanisms. Studies on both plant and animal development are welcome and can be focused upon any aspect of the developmental process, at all levels of biological organization from the molecular and cellular to the tissue levels. Experimental papers will be given the highest priority. Manuscripts that are entirely descriptive will only be accepted if they are of particularly high quality and offer novel insight into developmental mechanisms. Development is published twice monthly (24 issues/year).
期刊描述简介:
Development is a leading primary research journal in the field of developmental biology. It is published by The Company of Biologists, a not for profit publishing organisation dedicated to supporting and inspiring the biological community. From its initial launch in 1953 as the Journal of Embryology and Experimental Morphology to the present day, Development continues to publish cutting-edge research articles across the spectrum of plant and animal development, covering topics ranging from stem cells and nuclear reprogramming to evolutionary developmental and systems biology, from neurobiology to regional specification, morphogenesis and organogenesis, and from epigenetics to the aetiology of disease. Development is edited by expert researchers in the field, and all articles are subject to rigorous peer review. In addition to primary research articles, Development also publishes a range of commissioned review-based articles aimed at synthesising the latest advances in the field, putting forward new hypotheses to provoke debate and inspire new research directions, and educating newcomers to the field. For more information on publishing in Development, please visit our submission, article types and journal policies pages. Development offers advance online posting of accepted articles on its Accepted manuscripts site, which is updated daily. Publication of the final version of record is by a continuous publication model; as soon as an article is ready to be published, it is immediately released online rather than waiting for other articles in the issue to be completed, resulting in faster access to the final version of the article.

Adapting to change: insights from new organisms in cell and developmental biology.
We are living in an era of environmental change with undeniable parallels with past mass extinctions. To improve our understanding of planetary health and resilience, we must expand our research beyond traditional lab models. Forecasting the future of biological diversity relies on extrapolation of past trends, which necessitates the study of a wider range of biological systems. The 'Unconventional and Emerging Experimental Organisms for Cell and Developmental Biology' meeting, which took place in Dorking, UK, in September 2023, emphasized the importance of this broader approach. Discussions centered on evolutionary innovation, robustness and diversity, underscoring the need for broader taxon sampling and novel experimental models to address current and future challenges.
