期刊描述简介:
Revista Argentina de Microbiología is published by the Asociación Argentina de Microbiología (AAM) on a quarterly basis. The aim of this journal is to publish current scientific works in the different areas of Microbiology and Parasitology. Some of the topics considered of special interest are: infections caused by bacteria, fungi, parasites and viruses; mechanisms of pathogenicity, and virulence factors; resistance to antimicrobial agents; taxonomy; epidemiology and phenotypic, immunologic and molecular diagnostic methods. RAM also publishes articles on microbial ecology and diversity, zoo- and phytopathogens and microorganisms of value for food, agronomic, industrial and environmental applications. With the purpose of covering basic aspects of research in the area, the journal is also interested in the publication of manuscripts on microorganism genomics, proteomics and enzymology, as well as in those articles dealing with regional impact.

[Deficiency in N-acetylglucosamine transport affects the sporulation process and increases the hemolytic activity of the S-layer protein in Lysinibacillus sphaericus ASB13052].
Lysinibacillus sphaericus is a bacterium that, along with Bacillus thuringiensis var. israelensis, is considered the best biological insecticide for controlling mosquito larvae and an eco-friendly alternative to chemical insecticides. It depends on peptidic molecules such as N-acetylglucosamine to obtain carbon sources and possesses a phosphotransferase system (PTS) for their incorporation. Some strains carry S-layer proteins, whose involvement in metal retention and larvicidal activity against disease-carrying mosquitoes has been demonstrated. Alterations in the amino sugar incorporation system could affect the protein profile and functionality. Strain ASB13052 and the isogenic mutant in the ptsH gene, which is predominant in the PTS signaling pathway, were used in this study. For the first time, the presence of N-glycosylated S-layer proteins was confirmed in both strains, with a variation in their molecular weight pattern depending on the growth phase. In the exponential phase, an S-layer protein greater than 130 kDa was found in the ptsH mutant, which was absent in the wild-type strain. The mutant strain exhibited altered and incomplete low quality sporulation processes. Hemolysis analysis, associated with larvicidal activity, showed that the ptsH mutant has higher lytic efficiency, correlating with the high molecular weight protein. The results allow us to propose the potential effects that arise as a result of the absence of amino sugar transport on hemolytic activity, S-layer isoforms, and the role of N-acetylglucosamine in larvicidal activity.

Effects of a mixed additive based on Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Lactobacillus rhamnosus on broilers exposed to aflatoxin B(1) by contaminated feed.
The objective of the present study was to explore the influence of dietary supplementation with a mixed additive (MA) containing a probiotic and anti-mycotoxin (Saccharomyces cerevisiae RC016 and Lactobacillus rhamnosus RC007) and its interaction on the performance and health (biochemistry and liver/intestine histopathology) of broilers fed diets contaminated with aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) at 506000±22.1ng/kg. The MA contained S. cerevisiae RC016 (1×107cells/g) and L. rhamnosus RC007 (1×108cells/g) in relation 1:1. A total of sixty-one-day-old Cobb broilers were randomly allocated into four treatment groups with three replicates of 5 birds each for a five-week-old feeding experiment. The experimental diet for each treatment (T) was formulated as follows: T1, a commercial diet (CD); T2, CD+AFB1; T3, CD+0.1% MA; T4, CD+AFB1+0.1% MA. The MA improved (p<0.01) production parameters (weight gain, conversion rate, and carcass yield) and reduced (p<0.01) the toxic effect of AFB1 on the relative weight of the livers. In addition, the macro and microscopic alterations of livers and the possible intestinal injury related to histological damage in the presence of mycotoxin were reduced. The use of probiotic MA based on S. cerevisiae RC016 and L. rhamnosus RC007 in animal feed provides greater protection against mycotoxin contamination and is safe for use as a supplement in animal feed, providing beneficial effects that improve animal health and productivity. This is of great importance at the economic level for the avian production system.
